Jocelyn
Robert. Aucune de mes mains ne fait mal
Edited by Marie fraser and Jocelyn Robert
[exhibition
Jocelyn Robert, VOX, centre de l'image
contemporaine, Montreal, 24.02. - 16.04.2005]
Designed like an artist’s
book, this exhibition catalogue presents and documents
the installation Aucune de mes mains ne fait
mal, which was created especially for the
space of VOX, centre de l’image contemporaine.
Exploring the tensions between hearing and sight,
in this work Jocelyn Robert pursues his experiments
into the presence of sounds and images in space
and their existence in time. A text by Marie Fraser
provides an introduction to these concerns by
revealing the extent to which Jocelyn Robert’s
work betrays a profound exploration of memory
and time in which technology gives rise to a highly
poetic experience. An interview with the artist
makes it possible to go into these questions in
greater depth and to situate this recent installation
within a larger body of work. A DVD accompanies
the publication and offers complete visual documentation
of Aucune de mes mains ne fait mal, with
an introduction and commentary by the artist.
