Images in Process
Lectures

Lynne Cohen, January 28th, 2004

Raymonde April, September 17th, 2003

Bertrand Carrière, March 27th, 2003

VOX organised during 2003-2004 a series of artist talks between Quebec photographers and the public. This series of presentations titled Image in Process intended to initiate reflection and create discussion on the artistic process. The “work” of artists is intrinsically linked to formal, conceptual, aesthetic, or historical research, but it is also, in the opinion of many, “work” dealing with the artist’s own conception of art and of life. The objective is to take a retrospective look at the different stages of production of the artists working with photography. Topics of discussion will involve such issues as conceptual concerns, formal aspects, individual re-evaluations, compromises related to materials and also exhibiting conditions, works that never see light of day and utopian projects. This series of artist talks developed in collaboration with the curator Mona Hakim will be presented at L’Espace VOX.

As a continuation of this project, these talks will be proposed to educational institutions. Educators in visual arts and photography will be able to welcome in their classes theses artists.

[the lectures will be held in French]
