Perejaume's video presents images of
a curious activity he carries out in a Romantic landscape.
The artist has created a singular and fragile architecture:
four walls of white netting which fashion an intangible
cube, a metaphor for the exhibition space. The white
cube then turns inside-out like a glove and, becoming
the object of an open-air exhibition, loses its function
as neutral decor. This cube, and the small red tent
against which the artist juxtaposes it, subtly transform
the landscape into a peculiar formalist painting.
Perejaume
was born in Barcelona in 1957. Since 1974, his interdisciplinary
work has been the subject of numerous solo shows in
Spain, including a major retrospective at the Museu
d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (1999), as well as abroad.
He has recently exhibited at the Galería Soledad Lorenzo
in Madrid and at the Rooseum Center for Contemporary
Art in Malmö, Sweden.
