In her series
The Emotional City, Anna Ferrer uses the human
figure, often female, as a counterpoint between the
fragility of the individual and the strength of architecture
- in this case, the emblematic buildings of Barcelona,
which, despite the apparent fragility and transparency
of their glass walls, remain impenetrable citadels.
They seem to reject the isolated and fragile citizen,
who is unable to integrate herself with this proud city.
Anna Ferrer
was born in 1974 in Barcelona. Since 2000, she has been
studying fine arts at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf
with Hilla and Bern Becher. She recently participated
in the ARCO'03 contemporary art fair and at the Injuve'01
event, both in Madrid. Her work also drew attention
at the Art Cologne fair in 1998 and at the Martin Klosterfelde
Gallery in Berlin in 1997.
